GALLIVANT

1996
Film – Installation and CD
16mm colour b/w and super 8 – Blown up to 35mm – 100 minutes

Gallivant is a record of a trip made around the whole coastline of Britain with my grandmother Gladys and my daughter Eden. But of course it’s not that simple.
The convolutions of the edgelands are matched by the eccentricities of the people and places we met on the way, not to mention the idiosyncrasies of Nick Gordon-Smith, Gary Parker, Douglas Templeton, Linda Hall and Leila McMillan; the crew that helped me realise the project. Ultimately the film is a testament to a 14 week journey that we made together from late summer and into the early winter of 1995.
